Monuments such as the Washington, Lincoln, Jefferson, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorials draw millions of visitors each year.

The Washington Wizards of the NBA and the Washington Capitals of the NHL have rabid followings, while the Washington Nationals are the latest baseball franchise to relocate in the area and have recently moved into a new state of the art stadium complex.
